How the portrait came together.....
After a collection of photos were E-mailed and the best one chosen, I began the process of layering beginning with the head and following with the body. I have always preferred to add the eyes last to avoid smudging but also because I feel the portrait finally comes alive once the eyes have been added in. The tonal background was left rather minimal so as not to detract from the subject and the stark light & dark tones of a Border Collie.
As the portrait was being taken by the bride to her parents in Spain which is where her wedding was to be held, the portrait was ordered unframed but wrapped well for the plane journey. It also gave her dad the chance to have it framed with a moulding of his choice which is a very important part of the process. The portrait also came with an after care sheet as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.
